Presentations

Cluster Analysis, Lublin-Poland, 7/2/2019/20:

This lecture was presented in a summer school at Medical University of Lublin concerning clustering analysis bringing up two examples:one hierarchical with a work of the author and other, non-hierarchical, applying the functionalities of R software.

PCAs with R applications, Lublin-Poland, 6/28/2019/20:

This is an improved version of a previous presentation of principal component analysis theory and applications in MatLab but also in an open source R software. An example of several types of oranje juices are analyzed based on singular value decomposition. This lecture was presented in a summer course at Medical University of Lublin-Poland

Multivariate Data Analysis Applications, Lublin - Poland, 11/7/2018/19:

This lecture was presented to 3rd cycle degree students at Medical University of Lublin, Poland. Three examples were presented concerning two dependence multivariate methods: principal component and cluster analysis.

Solving ChE problems with MatLab, Badajoz - Spain, 11/24/2016/17:

This workshop was addressed to the 4th year students of the chemical engineering degree.

It was held from 21/11 to 24/11/2016 at Universidad de Extremadura in Badajoz, Spain, with the duration of 10 hours.

This comprised several ChE problems from different fields namely, kinetics and reaction engineering or fluid mechanics,  as well as solved a broad range of numerical problems.

By the end a special topic concerning a least squares problem of a numerical solution of ODE's was tackled.

Oxygenation cone to level up oxygen in a wastewater stream, Paris, France, 7/24/2015/16:

This poster was presented at the 6th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and Management held in Paris, France between 22 to 24 of July 2015.

This is a theoretical work that estimates the maximum depth reached by a bubble which is dragged by a downstream wastewater flowing inside a tube with a frusto-conical shape.

Modelling a gas turbine CHP plant, Porto, Portugal, 7/17/2014/15:

This oral communication was presented at the 2nd International Conference of water, waste and energy management which took place between 16 and 18th of July in ISEP-School of Engineering in Porto.

It is an Aspen Plus gas turbine combined heat and power generation model build up from scratch. This model simulates a net power production of 40 MW and 110 ton/h of superheated steam at 450 ºC and 67 bar.

Principal Component Analysis, Porto, Portugal, 11/5/2012/13:

This presentation was created for a workshop which took place at School of Engineering of Polytechnic Institute of Porto for posgraduated students and researchers of GRAQ - grupo de reações e análises químicas.

Principal component analysis is a tool especially interesting for scientists working with instrumental apparatus which give a great deal of information with the need to reduce dimensionality of data without loosing information.

Shutdown scenario of the amine treating unit in a refinery, Sevilla, Spain, 6/27/2012/13:

This communication was presented at the ANQUE International Conference of Chemical Engineering, the EFCE event nº701  held on Sevilla, Spain in June 2011.

The goal of this work is to manage the shutdown of an amine treating unit of a refinery without compromising the functioning of most of the other units that interconnect with it.

Simulation of biomass gasification in circulating fluidized bed reactor by Aspen Plus , Salamanca, Spain, 5/23/2012/13:

This slideshow was presented at the 1st International Congress on Water, Waste and Energy Management which took place between 23th and 25th of May in Salamanca, Spain.

This work is our first attempt to simulate biomass gasification in Aspen Plus based on the shrinking unreacted core particle to model the heterogeneous kinetics with diffusional limitations on the film around the particle and the ashes surrounding the reactive core.

Workshop MatLab, Porto, Portugal, 6/6/2011/12:

This slideshow was prepared for a workshop in the chemical engineering department of the School of Engineering/Polytechnic of Porto.

The intention of this workshop was to provide computer skills to the students to solve numerical problems in chemical engineering using MatLab.

In two 2 1/2 hour sessions, the students were invited to solve problems about ChE subjects such as fluid mechanics, reactor engineering, mass and heat balances or data fitting.

River hydrogeometry & dye tracer impulse behavior... , Mérida - Spain, 5/26/2011/12:

This poster was presented at 4th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and Management held in Mérida, Spain on 26 and 27 of May 2011.

This is a work that compares two hydrodynamic models used to fit rhodamine wt concentrations in several reaches as a result of a impulse spillage upstream.
